Digital Range Training System (DRTS)

Strategic Range Solutions continues to provided Subject Matter Expert (SME) support on the Instrumented Ranges/Digital Range Training System (IR/DRTS). SRS has provided an end-user perspective on the needs to better train the U.S. Army in Gunnery operations. We develop Tactical Live Fire Scenarios for the Digital Ranges, instruction on the Scenario Development Tool (SDT), Range Data Editor (RDE), Situational Awareness Window (SAW), System Controller (SYSCON), Exercise Controller (EXCON) and After Action Review (AAR) processes, giving the installation/units for a more full training experience. SRS conducts New Equipment Training (NET) for the Instrumented Ranges/Digital Range Training System (IR/DRTS).

Strategic Range Solutions currently provides a wide range of targetry, indoor / outdoor range instrumentation, counter-improvised explosive device training and equipment integration capabilities to U.S. Department of Defense forces. The UOTS program will involve integrating many of these capabilities along with other technologies into a comprehensive training system.

The Instrumented Ranges/Digital Range Training System (IR/DRTS) program is the enabler of range modernization for tactical vehicle training. IR/DRTS provides the infrastructure and instrumentation for Abrams, Bradley, Stryker, and , Aviation platform live-fire gunnery training and qualifications, and the ability to conduct Combined Live Fire Exercises (CALFEX). IR/DRTS facilitates individual, collective live-fire training and qualification per Training Circular 25-8 with enhanced training data collection and After Action Review (AAR) capabilities. IR/DRTS addresses emerging doctrinal requirements and enables new training techniques. IR/DRTS addresses the need to replace aging live-fire training infrastructures with a modern suite of digital capabilities. These training systems replace obsolete, inadequate training methods and equipment in order to stimulate new weapon systems, stress Soldiers, incorporate the Digitized Force, and provide enhanced training data collection and AAR capabilities. The instrumented ranges utilize all available combat system’s capabilities and digitally integrate them to manage forces undergoing individual and collective live-fire training and qualification exercises.
